PLATES
Sample identification accompanying the plates consists of:
- Origin: BSS indicates Banda Sea surface sediment; BSW, Banda Sea surface waters; 10W, Indian Ocean surface waters and RSW, Red Sea surface waters.
- Sample: information directly after the sample number, between brackets, indicates either the SEM-stub (roman numerals) or different types of Canada balsam slides ("Q", "F" or "T" slides).
- Specimen: specimens on SEM-stubs are numbered (with a few exceptions), while of most specimens in Canada-balsam slides England Finder (EF) locations are given.
