Sphaerostylus cristatus Blueford, 1982

Description - Add description

Two concentric shells, with diameters of 96-108 and 24-36µm. Outer shell 12-24µm thick, occasionally thorny, two unequal conical spines with length 72-120 and 24-28µm. Outer pores circular, of equal size, 5µm average diameter, closely packed, polygonally framed with fluted crests, 7-11µm between pore centers. Inner shell and radial beams obscured.
Distinguishing features: Two shells, thick outer with small pores and two unequal conical spines. Differs from Stylosphaera angelina (Campbell and Clark) by its larger outer shell and unequal spines.
