Amphisphaera kina Hollis, 1993

Moderately small, subspherical outer shell with large circular pores set in hexagonal frames. 6-12 short, three-edged spines clustered near the poles; may be of subequal length or differentiated into major and minor sets. In latter forms, major spines may comprise 2 at opposite poles and/or 4 symmetrically disposed around each pole; minor spines less regularly distributed. Only a single, spherical inner shell seen (average ratio of minor axes = 1:1.65).
